Danny Fox

Danny Fox completed a whirlwind 24 hours by signing for Celtic in a four-year deal on Friday and admitted he can’t wait to pull on the Hoops for the first time.

The highly-rated Coventry City left-back became Celtic's fourth signing of the summer when he completed his move and has already joined up with his new manager and team-mates in London.

With Celtic facing Al-Ahly tonight (Friday) and Spurs on Sunday in the Wembley Cup, Fox is expected to make his debut over the weekend and admits it’s been a surreal few days.

“It’s all happened so fast but I’m delighted to be here,” said 23-year-old Fox. “I got a phone call on Thursday afternoon to tell me to head for Glasgow and it’s all been a bit surreal.

“This is a massive move for me. I couldn’t sleep on Thursday night because I was so eager to get down and meet the lads in London and I can’t wait to make my debut.

“I’m a bit shell shocked, but I’m really grateful to the manager and the coaching staff for bringing me here. It’s a dream come true.

“The size of Celtic speaks for itself. You have the history, the fanbase, the stadium and there’s the added bonus of European football.

“I want to test myself at the highest level and there is no better place to do it than at Celtic. I’m just looking forward to getting started.”

Daniel Fox (born 29 May 1986 in Winsford, Cheshire) is an English footballer, who plays with Glasgow Celtic.

Fox learnt his trade at the Everton youth academy but the closest he came to a first-team appearance was as an 18-year-old being named on the bench for Everton's home match against Aston Villa in October 2004. He was loaned out to Stranraer where he played 11 games and helped them secure promotion to the Scottish First Division before his eventual release from Everton in the summer of 2005. Walsall moved quickly to sign Fox, where he made over 100 appearances in all competitions.

Fox had been linked with a move to Leeds United in the January 2008 transfer window. Leeds reportedly had bid of up to £300,000 (including clauses) turned-down by Walsall. However, Coventry City then agreed a fee with Walsall as Fox wished to move up a league, and he joined the Sky Blues on Monday 28 January 2008 in a double transfer deal (with his defensive partner Scott Dann also moving to the Ricoh Arena only 72 hours later), after agreeing personal terms and a passing a medical.

On the 16th of July 2009, Nottingham Forest tabled a bid believed to be in the region of £2 million to bring him to the City Ground; but the bid was subsequently rejected. 23rd July 2009, Fox is currently in Glasgow having a medical and has accepted a contract offer of a 4 year deal with Celtic after Coventry City accepted a bid of around £1,500,000. Celtic beat off interest from West Brom and Newcastle United to sign the highly rated 23 year old.

Fox was called up to the England Under 21 squad for the match against Poland on 25 March 2008 and was selected in the starting XI.

Daniel is a keen collector of Guiness memorabilia and is rumoured to have over 300 items including original advertising posters, bottle tops and beer mats.
